Barbara Johnson

Barbara has been the director of Shannondale Craft Camp since its inception in 2003. In addition to her administrative duties, she teachers a variety of classes, including felting, basketry, rug hooking, tatting, Battenburg lace, knitting, crocheting, triangle loom weaving, papermaking, quilling, netting and more. An avid crafter since childhood, Barbara also teaches craft classes in her home studios and demonstrates at many local events.

Felt a Hat

Using the resist method, you will create a soft felt hat, custom fitted to your own head! Starting with natural colored wool roving laid out over a flat form, we will use wet felting techniques, eventually adding colored accents to these original and unusual brimmed hats. All materials and tools provided — please bring 2 extra towels.

Needle Felt a Gnome

Class Cost: $8

Using a single, barbed felting needle, students will create a charming, simple gnome with a pointed hat and wild beard. Brightly colored wool roving and curls will be supplied, as well as all necessary tools.

Needle Felt a Face

Using a single, barbed felting needle, students will create a unique and wild face using wool roving and vibrantly colored wool curls for the hair and beard. All materials supplied.
